Current Australian Top Bike Champion Chris Matheson and the Nitro Voodoo Team are gearing up for a major show down at the Perth Motorplex in early December. Round Two of the ANDRA Pro Series Championship featuring Top Bike and Top Doorslamer will undoubtedly set the tone for the entire Championship series.
Matheson dominated the series Championship last season in his maiden year, re writing Australian Top Bike History being the first man in Australia to run a 6.058 sec pass. Matheson holds the Willowbank, Sydney Dragway and National ET records and has his sights on the record in the West.
After a barn storming win in Round One, taking out the Fuchs Nationals in September 2010, the Nitro Voodoo Team are looking ominous as the Team to beat this year.
Crew Chief Roger Bloor has been finalising engine settings in readiness for the Perth rounds, Bloor said he was anxious to get to Perth to better the Team’s previous record, as we have been runner up at last season’s two Golden States meetings. Bloor said “Matheson was beaten by former Champion Jay Upton in the first meeting, then lost to Geoff Redgrave in the second encounter earlier this year. Bloor said “Matheson has had a year to get his mind around riding the bike and is growing in confidence with each pass. This season will be extremely competitive as we progress further down the track under full power we expect records to tumble along the way. Matheson said “all the guys in the Nitro Voodoo Team are extremely focused and have big goals to achieve this season and we are looking forward to an exciting season”.
Round Two is expected to be a massive meeting, with rumors of some 18 plus Nitro Bike entries expected to line up. Two new former Brett Stevens Racing Nitro Harleys are also expected to debut their wares along with key competitors including Kim Stevens, Ian and Mark Ashleford, Mark Drew and local favorite and track record holder Jay Upton.
Matheson said he loved travelling to the ‘Plex’ as he enjoyed the track, the atmosphere and the devoted Nitro Fuel Bike fans in WA.
Matheson went on to say “the track has good run off, its smooth in the deep, always meticulously prepared and will no doubt be the scene of some solid numbers”. Matheson went on to say that “one of our major sponsors Red Line Oil is based in Perth and it would be great to get a good result for Red Line Oil and chief Brian Antunovich”.
Round Two of the ANDRA Pro-Series Drag Racing Championship runs over two days commencing on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th December 2010.
