Nitro Voodoo Fires Up for Round 5 in Sydney

Round 5 of the ANDRA Pro-Series Drag Racing Championship is to be held in Sydney on April 30, May 1 & 2 2010. The Nitro Voodoo Team is fired up and have been busy preparing the bike for this critical round of the Championship.   Matheson said “we suffered considerable damage to the bike in the last round at the Perth Motorplex, destroying a motor as a result of a distributor failure. The final was also not without damage, as we destroyed a tyre, which in turn virtually cut the Motorcycle carbon fibre body in half and also destroyed the rear wing and inner body support structure”.    The bike has been totally stripped back to the bare chassis and prepared for the next round.   Matheson said “we are eagerly waiting for the Sydney round, as it was the scene of great drama when we last visited in Round 2, back in September of last year.   A major crash in the deep end was tempered with a top mile an hour and lowest ET for the meeting (224 mph, 6.265 ET).

After Round 4, Matheson drove the transporter from Perth to Lake Gairdner, South Australia, for the annual Land Speed Salt Lake Racing and spent a week crewing for fellow Nitro Voodoo Team member Graeme Turner. Turner had a challenging week, with engine trouble after setting a strong 209mph pass in his big block Ford Falcon.

Matheson said “the long trip home, 55 hours, gave him plenty of time to contemplate the next round in Sydney and to put in train ideas he and crew members had been discussing at the wrap up of Perth. We have made a number of changes to both the bike and Team and are keen to race in Sydney.

Matheson went on to say “the air will be excellent in Sydney this time of the year and we expect to make plenty of horsepower. Sydney Dragway (W.S.I.D.) is an excellent facility and we have plenty of local support”.    Nitro Voodoo continues to lead the ANDRA Pro-Series Drag Racing Championship with 423 points, almost 80 points ahead of our hard charges Kim Stevens and Jay Upton, both from Western Australia.   Thank you again to our sponsors and supporters: Red Line Oils, RB Performance, Glenfords Tool Centres, Rocket Industries, CRC Industries, Kitten Car Care Products, GT Radiators & Machining, SmartSkip, ABC Auto Gear, PR Factory Store and special thanks to Larry “Spiderman” McBride & Steve McBride.
